Pageant season has arrived, and we’re only just starting. In a recent Facebook post, Miss Universe Philippines officially announced their 100 delegates for this year. To the netizen’s surprise, among the candidates vying for the crown are Asia's Next Top Model’s first Filipina winner Maureen Wroblewitz, and Pinoy Big Brother 2nd-place winner Kisses Delavin. It may come as a surprise for some, but these ladies have been well-exposed to expressing themselves in front of a huge audience.

After winning Asia’s Next Top Model Cycle 5 in 2017, Maureen started to venture out into the show business by becoming a host for TV show Eat Bulaga and just recently, she signed a contract under Star Magic—presumably she might showcase her acting on screen soon!

As for Kisses, the actress rose to popularity due to her relatable personality when she appeared on Pinoy Big Brother Season 13 back in 2016. As young as 3-years-old, the concept of beauty contests already piqued her interest. By 2013, Kisses got her first win as Miss Teen Masbate, in which three years later, she also took home the crown as Miss Masbate and Miss Kaogma.

It seems like Kisses’ love for pageants never ceased because even after her appearance on PBB, she immediately started her training under beauty pageant mentor Rodgil Flores, the founder of the boot camp Kagandahang Flores, back in 2017.

Aside from Maureen and Kisses, familiar names appear in the top 100 list: Miss Globe 2019 second runner-up Leren Bautista, Miss Supranational 2018 first runner-up Katrina Dimaranan, Binibining Cebu 2018 Steffi Aberasturi, and returning Miss Universe Philippines 2020 candidate Christelle Abello.
In case you didn't know, the Miss Universe Philippines introduced a New Normal Screening Process where they conducted the candidates' application online via MUPH's mobile app, allowing all Filipinas nationwide to apply straight from their hometown while loyal fans in the country have voted as well. On top of that, the new format also meant a new set of qualifications—there is no specific height requirements anymore!

In the next few weeks, prelimernary rounds will commence. We can now fully witness which of the candidates will get to the final 30 list, a major indicator of who will then succeed the first winner of Miss Universe Philippines 2020, Rabiya Mateo, in the upcoming Miss Universe 2021. We truly can’t wait!
