This Is Not a Drill: Instagram Now Lets You Rearrange Your Grid
The app has finally rolled out grid editing, allowing users to move posts around their profiles and curate their feeds after publishing.
If you've ever delayed posting a photo because it didn't "fit the grid," Instagram may have just solved the problem it helped create.
FYI, Instagram head Adam Mosseri has confirmed that users can now rearrange posts on their profile grids, one of the platform's most requested features.
Previously, Instagram profiles were arranged chronologically, meaning users had little control over how their grids looked after publishing. As a result, many creators and everyday users carefully planned their posts, sometimes delaying uploads or archiving content to maintain a certain aesthetic.
With the new update, users can drag and reposition posts on their profiles regardless of when they were originally published.
Instagram Rolls Out Ability to Rearrange Grid
The feature has been on users' wish lists for years. In a post announcing the rollout, Adam Mosseri acknowledged the demand with a simple caption: "Finally."
The update arrives as Instagram continues to move away from the highly curated culture that once defined the platform. While Stories, Reels, and DMs have encouraged more spontaneous sharing, many users still view their profile grid as a digital portfolio or first impression.
For creators, brands, and anyone who cares about aesthetics, the change offers greater flexibility. Instead of planning content around a future grid layout, users can now post first and rearrange their profiles later.
It's a small update, but for anyone who has spent too much time overthinking their feed, it may be one of Instagram's most welcome changes yet.
