Instagram to Roll Out Grid Rearranging Feature
META confirmed the upcoming change to American news site USA Today. As per the article, the much-awaited feature will go live for all Instagram users by the week of June 16. Prior to this, Instagram was actually already beta testing the update when they made it available to select users early this year.

To edit your grid, follow these simple steps as provided by META: Hold down on a post on your profile or press Edit Grid, which will show up under the Edit Profile button. Drag and move the selected reel or photo wherever you want it on your profile. Your changes will be saved automatically but you can always undo it as long as you’re still in Edit mode.

While you can move around your grid soon, META is also reminding users that there’s no option to rearrange your pinned posts. Additionally, as per USA Today, “Users will not be limited to how many times they can rearrange their profile grids.”

In a report by TechCrunch, they noted that editing the profile grid has been one of the most requested updates by the platform’s users. To their credit, the social media giant has been listening since 2022 and actually started developing it three years ago but eventually decided to pause it up until this year.

Instagram head Adam Mosseri revealed that they’re also working on testing quiet posting. If rolled out, users will be able to post content on their profiles without it appearing on their followers’ feeds. “Creative expression can feel intimidating, especially when posting something to feed,” he wrote in a blog post, explaining that this possible feature can help IG users upload content without the pressure of having everyone see it.
