Instagram's initiative to take away the users' like count has finally taken effect globally, including in the Philippines.
The app first announced the news this morning on Twitter while also reassuring influencers of the steps they're taking to ensure their livelihood. "Starting today, we’re expanding our test of private like counts globally. If you’re in the test, you’ll no longer see the total number of likes and views on photos and videos posted to Feed unless they’re your own," their post read.
"In addition, we understand that like counts are important for many creators, and we are actively thinking through ways for creators to communicate value to their partners," they continue to explain.
As mentioned above, if you're part of the worldwide test, your current like status will now be reported as "liked by x and others."

That said, you can still tell if a certain photo has more than a thousand likes as the post would show "liked by x and thousands of others" beneath it. The same goes for the select few photos that have reached the million mark.

Instagram first tested removing their likes last April for select users from seven countries. The daring move was rolled out in hopes of dissociating Instagram likes to users' self-worth and bettering their mental health.
