Heart Evangelista is undoubtedly one of today's most talented women. She's not just an actress and a style star, Heart is also a gifted painter. But despite her numerous sold paintings, it's her hand-painted bags that truly mesmerize us. Not only because she's able to create such lovely portraits on these totes, but because her chosen "canvases" aren't just your typical handbags. In fact, Heart loves painting on designer arm candy!
Heart has been painting on luxury totes way, way back. She even revealed to Preview that these commissioned work actually fund her next dream bag! But it's only in her recent vlog that she lets us a peek of her actual process when painting on Hermès totes. In her Youtube channel, the actress shared a work-from-home video where she documented her five-hour process of painting on a brand new Hermès Kelly bag for a Los Angeles-based client.
Painting on such precious bags is both "therapeutic" and nerve-wracking at the same time, says Heart. She also divulges that she gets nervous "every single time" she paints on one and she even prays a lot before even starting!
But after getting into the right headspace, Heart is finally ready to get down to business! On her work table filled with paints and brushes, Heart carefully placed the bag down and planned her masterpiece. Of course, she's known for favoring girls on almost all her pieces so she decided to paint three gorgeous ladies on the bag. "I love painting girls and so that would best represent my work," Heart explained. She then proceeded to paint on the bag freehanded, sans stencils or sketches. "You have to make sure your hands are very steady," she stressed.
Heart neatly paints on her bags—her special Van Cleef & Arpels rings splatter-free.
Much like her stylish self, Heart carefully painted the girls' faces—complete with with makeup—before "dressing them up." Heart decided to give an ethereal tulle top for the first girl, a dramatic tube top with orchids on the second, and a timeless pink turtleneck on the third. Heart shared that she opted for a muted palette for this piece because earth-toned color would look elegant on the beige bag.
Once all done, Heart signed her work with "LM" a.k.a. her real name, Love Marie. Of course, her signature comes with an adorable red heart. So cute!
