With Breast Cancer Awareness month being just a few weeks away, it’s that time of the year again to enlighten ourselves on the malicious threat hovering over every woman. It can happen to anyone; your mom, your sister, your aunt, or yourself. And more than just pinning a pink ribbon onto your shirt or donning the rose color in support—while truly admirable, and important sentiments—what truly counts is educating ourselves on the disease.
Consider the annual Silver Linings event, “a summit for the breast cancer community.” Put together by ICANSERVE Foundation, a non-profit government organization that promotes breast cancer prevention, the forum seeks to go in depth on various topics surrounding breast cancer from medical matters to advocacies of the heart.
According to a press release, topics to be explored and dissected include “everything you need to know about breast cancer." Can one have children after cancer? Can one find a job after cancer? How do cancer patients deal with a Stage 4 diagnosis? Does cancer run in my family?
It will also tackle the following concerns: Transforming a Crisis to an Opportunity, Anxiety and Depression During Cancer, Healing Through Storytelling, Eating Right, Meditation, Yoga, Where to Find Financial Assistance, and What’s in Store for You in the New Cancer Law.
Free X-rays and consultations with doctors will also be available on site at PICC on September 28, 2019, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Don’t miss this opportunity! Anyone can join in on the discussion with just a registration fee of P500—who knows, you may just save a life. Not least of all, your own.
