FYI, Ilocos Empanadas Are Having a Viral Moment

Food content creators and chefs alike have joined the hype, recreating the dish and sharing their results with followers. A quick search for #IlocosEmpanada on TikTok reveals an endless stream of crunchy bites and unmistakable “Mmmm!” reactions.

Locally, the hype never really faded, with many spots continuing to serve the vibrant orange snack. True to Pinoy humor, many have found themselves jokingly forced to choose between the empanada and the equally viral Dubai chewy cookie. And the verdict? Either one will do—but preferably with a side of hugot.
