In a press statement, Burger King Philippines shares that they are soon to join the plant-based movement through their Plant-based Whopper (a.k.a the Impossible Whopper), which debuted in the U.S. back in 2019.
"The plant-based patty was made through the partnership with Australia’s #1 plant-based company V2Food. With patties mainly made with soy proteins, it’s hard to believe the Whopper we’ve come to know inall its smoky, flame-grilled glory is replicated in the Plant-based Whopper but it’s made possible," they said.
Burger King’s Plant-based Whopper will be available starting November 16 in all Burger King Metro Manila branches, and November 26 for provincial stores.
Shakey's is also joining the plant party! they've recently unveiled their "Goood Burger", a sandwich that they claim to be a healthy alternative. According to their website, "The GOOOD Burger is composed of a plant-based patty, potato bun, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, white onion, pickles, vegan thousand island dressing, and ketchup." Yum!
As if that's not enough, they are also offering the "Goood Goood Burger." This 100% meat-free burger boasts of a plant-based patty, tomato, cucumber, white onion, and pickles, and drizzled with vegan dressing. But, instead of toasted buns, the Goood Goood Burger has lettuce wraps keeping the whole thing together.
Shakey's Goood and Goood Goood Burgers are available now in all Metro Manila stores for dine-in, carryout, delivery, Pickup-a-Shakeys, Park and Order, and Send-A-Shakeys.
Now, we're still on the lookout for Mcdonald's McPlant burger to come ashore but they're already so much to look forward to in this new Mcdo offering. In a statement, Mcdonald's describes the McPlant to "deliver [their] iconic taste in a sink-your-teeth-in (and wipe-your-mouth) kind of sandwich. It’s made with a juicy, plant-based patty and served on a warm, sesame seed bun with all the classic toppings." Woah! Fingers crossed they bring it here by next year, as they've promised.
