More people are getting to know Ice Neo as Vice Ganda’s “happy pill” on It’s Showtime. With their colorful layered outfits, bold makeup, and infectious energy, the university student has quickly become a standout on the noontime show.
Before appearing as an intern on the noontime show, Ice Neo was already well-known on social media, with a combined following of more than 435,000 across Instagram and TikTok. Their content spans fashion, humor, and university life. Fun fact: they were also featured as one of the Preview Pride 2026 cover stars. Several of their posts have gone viral over the years, but one of their earliest hits involved their family.
Ice Neo’s Father Is the “Hair Specialist” Behind Kris Bernal’s Viral Haircut
In 2006, Kris Bernal joined the fourth season of StarStruck, GMA’s reality talent search. In an old interview with Boy Abunda, she recalled being excited to finally try short hair during the competition’s makeover session after wearing it long for most of her life. The result, however, was far from what she expected. Knowing that complaining could hurt her chances of staying in the competition, she tried to smile through the disappointment—even as she couldn’t hold back her tears.
The hairstylist behind the unforgettable look? Richard Perello, a.k.a. Ice Neo’s dad.
Ice Neo addressed the connection in a 2023 TikTok video, writing, “Anak po ako nung stylist. Sorry po, Miss Kris Bernal,” alongside a photo of themself with their dad. Ice considers the post their “first hit TikTok.”
In a follow-up video, they revealed the inspiration behind the haircut and shared Richard’s reaction to the attention. According to Ice, their dad told them there was no need to apologize because “inutusan lang din naman daw talaga siya, tsaka maayos naman daw.”
The story recently resurfaced following the content creator’s appearances on It’s Showtime, prompting them to make another video about it last July. Ice recalled proudly telling their classmates when they were younger that their dad was a “hair specialist” who worked with celebrities. Across several videos, they have named personalities Richard has styled over the years, including Kathryn Bernardo, John Lloyd Cruz, Regine Velasquez, and former and current members of the It’s Showtime family Billy Crawford, Ogie Alcasid, and Vhong Navarro.
Today, Richard Perello continues to work as a hairstylist in Canada.
