Last January 23, Bagets The Musical finally hit the stage at the Newport World Resorts—with a sold-out opening weekend, no less!

The audience was certainly eager to see the 1984 coming-of-age film take on a new form, and among them were celebrity power couple Aga and Charlene Muhlach, together with their daughter Atasha. The family came in full force to support the major theater debut of Atasha’s twin brother, Andres, who carried the weight of reprising his father’s role as Adie in the original movie.

The role hits close to home for more reasons than one. In the story, Adie often appears with a film camera hanging on his neck, ready to preserve memories at any given moment. Andres, himself, is the same, having shared his film photographs online numerous times.

Throughout the play, Andres holds onto the Konica C35. Originally released in 1968, it was dubbed by the Japanese brand as “the world’s smallest and lightest 35mm rangefinder camera.” Despite its compact build, it’s known for its sharp lens and accurate focusing, which is especially helpful since it is a point-and-shoot.

It’s easily a good choice if you’re dabbling in film photography to document your everyday life, since the camera takes care of the exposure—all you need to do is advance the film and click the shutter! It usually produces images with high contrast, too.

With its nostalgic feel, from the camera’s look to the actual photos it takes, the C35 captures the youthful spirit of culture that was present back when Bagets was first introduced.

Unfortunately, the camera is no longer being produced, but it can still be sourced through resellers. Based on the available units at Kamera Store, an untested pre-loved C35 can range from P3,800 to P12,200.
