The Exact Philippine Beach Resorts Featured in "Boyfriend on Demand"

Netflix just released a new K-drama for fans to swoon over, and Filipinos are already tuned in. Apart from its star-studded cast led by BLACKPINK’s Jisoo and Seo In Guk, Boyfriend on Demand drew interest from Pinoy viewers who couldn’t help their excitement over parts of the show being shot in the Philippines.

If you’ve been following the project since its production days, then the Philippines’ involvement in the K-drama might not be a surprise. In February 2025, Jisoo, In-Guk, and the rest of the cast were spotted filming in Cebu. Now that it’s out, we found the exact beach resorts they visited that were featured in the show.

Boyfriend on Demand tells the story of Seo Mi-rae, played by Jisoo, an exhausted webtoon producer with little luck on life and love. When she’s offered the opportunity to try out a subscription-based virtual reality app called "Boyfriend on Demand," she’s transported into fanciful worlds that lead her to the different versions of her ideal match.

Episode one of the show opens with Mi-rae reminiscing her last vacation in the Philippines. The scene shows her on the beach of Shangri-La, Mactan, a five-star resort in Cebu known for being a choice scenic wedding destination. When Mi-rae opens her eyes, she’s backdropped by white sand, blue sea, and a signage that bears our current tourism campaign tagline, Love the Philippines. The resort’s staff, wearing t-shirts featuring the same logo, greet Mi-rae before she returns to reality.

Aside from Shangri-La Mactan, another local establishment that made it into the show is Bluewater Maribago Beach Resort. They even posted about it on their official Instagram page, sharing photos from episode 6, where Mi-rae watches as another one of her simulated matches plays volleyball on the beach. “We’re thrilled to see a piece of Cebu shining on screen in this Korean Drama,” captioned the Bluewater Maribago account.

As per their website, Bluewater Maribago is located along the eastern part of Mactan Island. It’s particularly famous for its pristine waters frequented by divers and snorkelers.

Boyfriend on Demand features special appearances from several K-drama leading men, like Lee Soo Hyuk, Seo Kang Joon, Lee Jae Wook, Lee Sang Yi, and Ong Seong Wu. You can now watch all 10 episodes of the series exclusively on Netflix.
