Another Filipina has made us proud on the international pageant stage! Last October 31, Emmanuelle Vera bagged the third runner-up title for the Philippines at Reina Hispanoamericana 2021. And while it may be no surprise for such a strong contender, did you know that she had less than two weeks to prepare for the competition?
ICYMI, Emmanuelle was only crowned Reina Hisapanoamericana Filipinas in the Miss World Philippines 2021 pageant on the morning of October 4. She was then immediately scheduled to fly to Bolivia for the pageant on the 16th, leaving the beauty queen with a meager 12 days to have everything in order.
As for why this is such a big deal, beauty queens usually have at least a few months to prepare for their respective international pageants. However, despite being pressed for time, Emmanuelle pulled through!
For her national costume, she donned a Louis Pangilinan ensemble that paid tribute to Filipino fishermen. In case it looks familiar, it's actually the same costume that Maureen Wroblewitz wore in Miss Universe Philippines 2021.
Emmanuelle also managed to learn a few lines in Spanish despite the limited time she had. She made her pasarela a perfect fit for the pageant, too! Check out her "hurricane walk" below, as named by the beauty queen herself!
Netizens were also wowed by the incredible physique and poise that the candidate was able to showcase in Bolivia. These photos of her in the Uyuni Salt Flats speak for itself!
In the end, Andrea Bazarte of Mexico was crowned the winner of the pageant. Maria Vengoechea of Colombia and Andrea Romero of Venezuela came in as first and second runner-up, respectively, followed by Emmanuelle.
Like Emmanuelle, several Filipina beauty queens have also experienced a limited prep time for a national pageant.
Most recently, our Miss Grand International 2020 representative Samantha Bernardo won first-runner in the competition up despite only having 20 days to train. Similarly, Dindi Pajares had 11 days leading up to Miss Supranational Philippines 2021 yet still landed in the top 12!
This just goes to show that the Philippines is considered a pageant powerhouse for a reason!
