Bucky’s made its mark on the local dessert scene when they introduced their “non-brownies” in 2012. With its ultra-chewy consistency and dark cocoa flavor balanced with a hint of salt, the Original variant is one of our favorite brownies in Manila (never mind that they’re not supposed to be brownies—they’re just that good). The good news is, you can now also make your own version at home with their new Not-a-Brownie Mix (P450/630 grams).

Just add eggs, vanilla, and butter!

The Not-A-Brownie Mix is available through their online shop, which delivers from Tuesdays to Saturdays. There’s a lead time of 48 hours for orders, and you’ll have to spend a minimum of P500. From there, you can pay via credit or debit card, GCash, or BPI, BDO, or Unionbank bank deposit.

Each pack makes nine bars that you can hoard for yourself or share with your friends and family. To prepare it, simply preheat your oven to 190°C, and grease and line a 9x9-inch pan with parchment paper. Beat four eggs until light and fluffy, then add the Bucky’s mix and a teaspoon of vanilla extract. Add a cup of softened butter until smooth, then pour the batter into a pan and bake for 45 minutes. Slice away and enjoy it as is, or crumble it and add it to ice cream, milkshakes, and so on.

You can also get other treats, like these chewy S'mores Cookies.

Bucky’s is a homegrown brand that initially exclusively peddled their signature pastries, but soon opened their first brick-and-mortar shop in Paranaque in 2015, expanding the menu to include soft-serve. They transferred to Poblacion in 2016 and began to offer savory eats before eventually moving to The Grid Food Market at Power Plant Mall.
