Here's an Efficient Work from Home Skincare Routine You Should Try

Your pre-work from home routine is just as essential to boosting your productivity as your daily cup of coffee. A quick workout or a healthy breakfast alone can give you an amazing headstart, but don't forget to have your skin covered before you chill in front of the computer either! To save you some time in the morning and maintain your skin's glow, here's our guide to making an efficient WFH skincare regimen:

Step 1: Cleanse

Not wearing makeup isn't enough to fight breakouts from home. Your cleansing routine should still be on point, so find a gentle, non-stripping face wash that suits your skin type to use before and after your WFH day. If you wear makeup for a video conference call, do a quick double cleanse with either a micellar water or cleansing oil at night followed by your usual cleanser for a thorough wash.

Step 2: Tone + Exfoliate

You want to keep your morning skincare routine as quick and efficient as possible. An exfoliating toner, for example, can help you squeeze two skincare steps into one. This will balance your skin's pH level while working so you're less prone to irritation and use chemical exfoliants to get rid of dead skin cells, which could turn into pimples and dark spots.

Step 3: Treat

We may be (mostly) safe from UV light indoors, but when spending extended hours in front of a screen, we deal with a another invisible monster—blue light. Some studies have shown that aside from eye strain and disrupting sleep cycles, blue light can contribute to hyperpigmentation on the face. Thankfully, preventing this is easy, thanks to serums with antioxidant protection like vitamin C and brightening ingredients like niacinamide that also help fade dark spots.

Step 4: Moisturize

If your skin still feels parched after your serum or you're in an air-conditioned room, go ahead and apply a thin layer of your favorite moisturizer for extra hydration. But if you don't feel like your skin needs that additional layer, move on to your next (and most imporant) step: Sunscreen.

Step 5: Protect

Just because you're indoors, doesn't mean you're 100% protected from the sun. Harmful UVA rays, for one, can still penetrate the glass windows in your home and persist in wreaking havoc on your skin. So to wrap up your skincare routine, wear some sunscreen with at least an SPF of 30 every day. Some formulas will help protect your skin from blue light, too—iron oxide-based sunscreens block visible light, while vitamin C-infused products can prevent extra damage.
