It's like the 2000s never went away.

One of the hairstyles from the '00s that never fails to make us feel nostalgic are chunky highlights. Think Jessica Simpson and Kelly Clarkson, back when they had bright blonde strips of hair mixed into their dark brown tresses.

Now local celebs are getting into it again! We first spotted it on Sue Ramirez, who used blonde clip-on hair extensions to create the bold look.

And recently, Angel Locsin jumped on the trend, too! But unlike Sue, she went for sandy blonde highlights.

Too bold? If you prefer a more subtle way to hop on the trend, take notes from Kathryn Bernardo. She opted for fewer streaks, and while at it, she also combined the '00s hairstyle with something more current: chunky highlights and beachy waves! For a more dimensional look, you can also get dark blonde highlights that will seamlessly blend in with your natural hair color.

In case you need more convincing, Kim Chiu's 'do is proof that chunky highlights also look chic on curly strands!

Or, you know, you can always opt to take a page from Liza Soberano's style book and go for bombshell waves while showing off your chunky highlights!

Try it the next time you get your hair colored!
