How We Created Solenn Heussaff's Boldest Cover Beauty Looks Yet
For the Preview July 2026 cover, Solenn presents herself in dark and bold glam that she rarely goes for. Here’s why.

Solenn Heussaff does not shy away from showing up with minimal to no makeup or a simple, effortless hairstyle. She seldom wears dark eye makeup, and while getting styled for the Preview July 2026 cover shoot, she casually remarked that she would never get micro bangs because they might not suit her. And yet, there she was, standing confidently in exactly that.

She remains deeply connected to nature and humanity, often drawing inspiration from both. Solenn has undeniably carved her own path as an artist, continuing to evolve alongside her body of work. With this in mind, the concept explores the idea of a woman in the wild—steadfast in her instincts and deeply connected to her freedom.
There is a certain vulnerability in presenting one's work to the world, just as it takes courage to embrace a new form and reveal yourself in ways you never have before. That is the heart of the beauty direction behind the cover.
Solenn Heussaff as a Muse, According to Her Makeup Artist
Zee Ghielmetti, one of Solenn’s go-to makeup artists, shared how “excited” she was when she first saw the shoot’s overall concept and beauty direction. “It’s not a look I would normally think to do on Solenn when we work together,” she says. “Solenn can be playful with glam, but we haven’t done anything like this for previous shoots. It felt really special!”

From the concept to the final shoot, Zee believes it falls on the “more creative” side of the looks she and Solenn have done together over the past year. She expresses, “I hope there is more chance to play and be more creative like this. I do know Solenn enjoyed it as well.”
The energy Solenn radiates to her audience is undeniably felt by her team as well. “I am in awe of her, especially when she talks about her art,” Zee says when asked to describe Solenn as a muse. “It’s so special when people express their inner thoughts through other forms.”

The Beauty Direction Behind the Preview July 2026 Cover
For the first look, Zee painted Solenn’s lips a blotted burgundy. Smudged eyeliner framed her eyes, while her lashes were kept nearly bare to highlight their natural shape. With an emphasis on radiant skin, the base was kept almost natural, allowing Solenn’s freckles to peek through.
Hairstylist Nelly Tolentino created a stylized take on sea-soaked hair, translating the movement of waves and their textures into an editorial look.

It complemented the monochromatic Deni Garcia dress Solenn wore at sea and provided a grounding contrast to the turquoise beaded top by Iñigo Villegas and the fiery dress by Kelvin Morales.
The second look, which appears on the cover, shifts the primary focus of the glam. “I thought of how I can make it look raw and have texture on its own without it looking too made up or drawn on,” Zee tells Preview about her process. “I knew that the shoot was about her artworks, so I wanted to play into the ‘undoneness’ of it as well.”
The bold lips were swapped for a nude shade, drawing more attention to her eyes, which were given greater depth and drama through a range of gray tones and striking lashes. The result felt natural yet otherworldly at the same time.
This was also reflected in the long nails Solenn wore throughout the shoot, custom-made by Slay Your Nails by Hazel, signifying the quiet strength built over time.
For the first time, people also got to see Solenn in bangs that sat well above her brows. Micro bangs are not a style she would normally gravitate toward, but she embraced the look without hesitation. With Solenn’s openness, Nelly’s expertise, and the help of Tokyo Posh, the transformation came to life.

It was the same look Solenn wore when she transformed into a painting, herself. Slo Lopez and Celine Cabildo, brought Preview’s vision of Solenn as a literal body of work to life.
They experimented with different mediums that would hold up against the heat of Anilao without compromising Solenn’s comfort or their creative vision. That was a feat in itself, but what made it even more impressive was that it all came together in just an hour. The entire transformation was made possible by thoughtful artistry—and the right products.
