In a vulnerable moment on Instagram, Mika Dela Cruz got candid about struggling to lose weight caused by her health conditions. According to her caption, it took five years of “going to different people, working out for hours everyday, spending so much on different diet programs & medical methods” before finally getting it right.

Mika’s story was one of determination but it also didn’t come without doubts. She admitted to being hit hard by all the unsolicited comments shaming her body on social media saying, “It’s painful seeing my body being picked apart online & at times even in person because I knew that it was trying it’s hardest to get me through all the health struggles & systemic inflammation I had.”
At one point, Mika thought of giving up altogether until she turned to her faith to see her through. “I gave it to JESUS & I asked him to help me see myself the way that he did. I started inclining my ears to LISTEN to what HE THINKS & SAYS about me. Not what the world keeps on throwing at me. I learned to trust in his perfect timing for everything and right when I wasn’t trying to impose change on myself anymore,” she wrote.

Her prayers eventually led her to the doctor that would change her life, Dr. Roland Angeles whose Instagram bio says that he "sub-specializes on Obesity Medicine or Medical Weight Loss Treatment.” With his help, Mika was able to re-train the way she ate through the doctor’s prescribed diet program, which the actress describes as “sustainable, will not make you feel weak and is gentle while giving true results.”
Ending her inspiring story, she thanked her doctor and called her transformation “one of the biggest PLOT TWISTS of my 2025. We are off to a great start!”
