We won't be exaggerating when we say that Kathryn Bernardo has one of the most stunning complexions in local show biz. It's almost as if her skin has its own built-in filter with how smooth and luminous it is!
While most of it is definitely thanks to genetics, Kathryn also maintains has a consistent skin regimen on her own. She shared all her steps in a vlog, and we took note of all her top tips!
Here are seven skincare secrets that Kathryn Bernardo swears by:
1. Remove your makeup with micellar water.
If you always have trouble erasing all bits of makeup with just face wash, make the switch to micellar water like Kathryn. It's fairly easy: She just pours the product on organic cotton pads and swipes away! "I like to do this before washing my face to remove the first layer of the makeup and feel like my face is cleaner," the actress says.
2. Use a separate oil-based makeup remover for waterproof eye makeup.
To remove waterproof makeup on her eyes, Kathryn prefers to use oil. She either goes in with an oil-based micellar water or any type of oil she can get her hands on. "As long as it's gentle and won't hurt your eyes," she notes.
3. Exfoliate once or twice a week only.
Kathryn still swears by facial scrubs for exfoliation, but she only uses it once or twice a week to prevent irritation. "I have very sensitive and dry skin so if you have the same skin type as mine I think 'di nila nire-recommend mag-exfoliate everyday," she shares. (Tip: If you love scrubs as well, make sure to opt for non-abrasive formulations instead of ones with sharp, uneven beads.)
4. Never forget to wash your face before bed.
Kathryn finishes her cleansing routine with a gentle face wash. This gets all the excess oil and makeup off her skin for a clean canvas!
"No matter how tired you are, no matter how drunk you are, make sure to always wash your face," the actress reminds. According to her, you should never sleep with your makeup on either, since these are common culprits for pimples and clogged pores.
5. Pat your face dry with a facial tissue instead of a towel.
"I just started doing this last month. I just realized na we wipe our bath towel all over our body and then we wipe it on our face. I feel like its more hygienic if we use a facial tissue," Kathryn explains.
"Put extra care especially sa face area that's very sensitive. You don't want to get irritation and all just because of towels. I feel like also it's softer."
6. Put on your skincare from thinnest to thickest.
The order that you apply your skincare is almost as important as the products themselves. Kathryn touches on this in her vlog, saying that people often mistakenly apply serum after moisturizer, when it should be the other way around.
"So we rinse, put toner and serum, and then we lock it with moisturizer. Serums are usually lighter than your moisturizer so you put it first, just so your face will absorb all the vitamins that we need," she says.
7. Don't skip eye cream.
Kathryn admits that she only started using eye cream this year, but better late than never, right? "They say that it's good to prevent wrinkles and start using eye creams when you turn 25," she adds. This newfound habit of hers is also thanks to her best friend Arisse de Santos, who told her all about the benefits of the product!
