Wake up looking fresh for your early-morning video calls!

For all you night owls out there, we understand how much you want to hit snooze repeatedly on your alarm every morning. But with the demands of school and work, we’re tasked to wake up a little early to prep even after we’ve had a sleepless night. Makeup can only do so much with tired eyes, so below, we listed down some tips and tricks that you can do at home to make you look well-rested.

Easy Remedies for Dark Circles You Can Do at Home

1. Anything cold is your best friend.

Start the day with something cold to help shrink dilated blood vessels. You can place anything from spoons, cucumbers, ice globes and cryo balls in the freezer to use them later for de-puffing and lightening dark circles. If you’re a morning tea person, place your tea bags in the freezer after as these can help with puffiness later on. We promise you it will help wake you up and jumpstart your morning!

2. Remember to wear sunscreen.

Beauty experts always talk about the benefits of sunscreen and how important it is in your beauty routine. Always remember to apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen daily to help avoid hyperpigmentation everywhere, including your undereyes. If you want to protect and cover, try to find a concealer with SPF for a win-win situation!

3. Add a retinol eye cream to your regimen.

The skin under our eyes is thin and have less oil glands than the rest of our face, so we tend to age quicker in that area. We also make a lot of movement in our eye area as we smile, squint, and furrow our brows which further quickens the formation of wrinkles. Using a retinol-infused product around your eyes will help counteract this, because retinol helps increase collagen production, smoothen texture, and even out pigmentation. Here are a couple of our eye cream picks with retinol that you can try:

4. Ditch bad habits.

Not getting enough sleep actually doesn’t cause dark circles, but it does exaggerate them. We know you’ve heard this a lot, but try to keep up seven to eight hours of sleep each night. If you’re a night owl, enable night mode on your phone, and choose to read a book or meditate before bed. Vices such as smoking, vaping, and eating unhealthy can all worsen dark circles, so try your best to lay low on these habits.
