BAD by ATEEZ has been playing on repeat for K-pop fans around the world. When its music video—featuring Golden Globe-nominated actress Chase Infiniti—premiered last June 26, audiences were introduced to a catchy tune and a split-second dance move that became viral.

At the center of the popular part of the choreography is San, who pops his chest to the beat while maintaining eye contact with the camera. The boy group also performed the piece on the music show Inkigayo, and the main dancer showed up in a charming look that’s worth recreating.

ATEEZ San's Sunburned Look for Their “BAD” Performance

Sunkissed makeup has gained popularity throughout the years, but San’s look takes it up a notch with a sunburned appearance. It was done by Jeongmin, the head makeup artist at Commune Hair and Makeup, who revealed the key products she used to achieve it.

The K-pop idol’s overall makeup look remained minimal, directing the focus to his blush and lips. His skin was dewy and radiant, and his features were simply enhanced. Jeongmin ditches the usual blush placements on the apple of the cheeks or on the temples. Instead, she restrains the color to the bridge of his nose and subtly blends it outwards.

She starts with the NARS Powermatte Lipstick in Start Me Up, a warm pink-brown shade. It’s a highly pigmented product, which helps the “sunburn” look visible and intentional. Its transfer-resistant properties also make it suitable for the stage.

To set it in place, she goes in with the MAC Cosmetics Mineralize Blush in Humor Me, a midtone beigey nude that mirrors the recent anti-blush movement. Using brown tones makes it appear as if San is naturally warmed by the sun rather than looking glammed up. The baked blush also enhances the look’s durability throughout the performance.

His lip combination requires only two products, including the WAKEMAKE Soft Blurring Balm Stick in Wild Taupe and the Dolce & Gabbana My Comfy Matte Lip Stylo in 31.05, a rich rosy brown. These shades naturally tie into the color adorning the highest point of his nose bridge, seamlessly embodying that natural look.

To recreate, focus the pigment on the center of the lips for a deeper color, then blend it outwards for that effortless gradient.
