If the weather doesn't want to chill out, then we have no other choice but to do that job ourselves. And no, we don't mean taking our second (or third) cold shower of the day. All it takes are some small tweaks in your body care routine, and you'd get keep that cool feeling on your skin for longer. Keep scrolling for some of our favorite summer skin-saving tricks!
1. Refrigerate your skincare.
Putting on your skincare products can feel like such a chore when the temps are high, but if you keep them nice and chilled, it'll make the entire process less icky. Aside from cooling down your skin, products and beauty tools stored in the fridge can also help soothe inflammation and tone down redness! (Check out our guide to which products to keep in your fridge here.)
2. Change your body moisturizer.
Don't let the heat stop you from keeping your body supple and moisturized. The trick is to switch to a lighter, more refreshing source of hydration, like a lightweight body gel or some fresh aloe vera you picked from your garden. These textures tend to feel much lighter on the skin and absorb much quicker than a thick body cream. To amp up the cooling effect, store it in the fridge alongside your face products!

3. Refresh with a cooling mist.
As much as we want to take five cold showers a day, it's not exactly the most eco-friendly thing to do. Instead, spray a cooling mist on your face and body (or even your hair) to freshen yourself up every few hours. You can DIY your own mist with some aloe vera and peppermint oil at home (see the recipe here!), but you have tons of ready-made options out in the market. In fact, any face mist can be a cooling mist if you keep it nice and cold!

4. Exfoliate regularly.
The reason behind that stuffy feeling might be all the dead skin that you haven't sloughed off in weeks (or months). Thankfully, exfoliating with a gentle body scrub once or twice a week can instantly solve this for you. After scrubbing, we swear your body will feel fresher than it did before!

5. Prioritize your SPF.
If you'd have to choose between a body moisturizer and sunscreen in the summer, then we definitely recommend opting for the latter. Unless you have very dry and irritated skin, a layer of sunblock should be enough to keep your body comfortably cool while protecting it from harmful UV rays outdoors. Lightweight and oil-free formulas tend to feel more breathable on the skin, while spray sunscreens are best for people who don't like the heavy feel of lotions and creams.
