We are still dreaming about the Paris Haute Couture shows from last week, with all the frilly gowns sent down the runways capturing the mood of each collection. However, it’s not just the clothes that caught our eye but also the beauty looks they were sporting. Below are five makeup trends we’ve spotted that you can easily cop and do yourself.
1. DARK LIPS
Gothic lips are still on trend this season but it survives with an added twist: textures. Go all out on extreme matte lips or high-shine glosses. MAC Cosmetics Senior Artist Claire Mulleady calls this “concentrated glamor.”
Atelier Versace
Jean Paul Gaultier
Elie Saab
How to: Keep the rest of your face with minimal makeup and go all out on your dark lips. Layer on gloss for added dimension.
2. BOLD EYELINER
Feline flicks are beauty trend staples, but this fall, we see our favorite winged technique given a modern take by exaggerating it across the eye. Forget perfection! Instead, keep it grungy and smudged for a worn-in effect. Use the same method with bright colors for a more refreshed, lighter look.
Atelier Versace
Dior
How to: If you aren’t sold on exaggerated liners, experiment first with double cat eye flicks or gold eyeliners. You can also brighten your naked look with a bright blue liner.
3. DIFFUSED SMOKEY EYES
This season is about unlabored, carefree look. Balancing the bold liners and lip hues, smoky eyes appear only to have blurred and clouded finish on the lids. Say goodbye to built-up eye shadows and welcome a thinly tinted, well-blended, but more colorful palette on your peepers.
Jean Paul Gaultier
Armani Prive
Schiaparelli
How to: Don’t pile on the eye shadow. Rather, work with the pigment by blending and buffing it out across the lid to create a diffused, worn-in effect. Try this technique with your lips (think gradient lips) as well.
4. SHEER SKIN
Natural never goes out of style. But this season, the no-makeup look gets an update with a slightly stained finish. Give your skin that glowing-from-within vibe with just a thin veil of makeup.
Giambattista Valli
Iris Van Herpen
Viktor & Rolf
How to: Use cream-based products for blushers as these will be easily absorbed by the skin, giving you that natural color from within.
5. HAIR ACCESSORIES
Bring out the hair bedazzles, ladies! This fall, as designers took us to a high fashion fairytale, adorn your locks with bows, hair jewels, and ringlets.
Chanel
Valentino
Alberta Ferretti
How to: Give your top knots a twist with teased curls and add some bows (like what the Chanel models were seen sporting).
