The first quarter of 2026 has been far from quiet for Zara. The Spanish retailer was the talk of fashion world when Bad Bunny performed at his historic Super Bowl Halftime Show last February, wearing a custom ensemble from the brand.

Now, it’s keeping that momentum going. Zara has announced a partnership with John Galliano, marking the designer’s highly anticipated return to fashion.

Zara Announces Creative Partnership With John Galliano

John Galliano is officially back from his two-year hiatus from the sartorial scene. On March 17, Zara formally announced that the legendary designer has inked a two-year creative partnership with the brand to “re-author the brand’s archives through a series of seasonal collections.”

As part of the collaboration, he will be “deconstructing and reconfiguring” garments from previous collections, transforming them into new creations. The rollout of his highly anticipated return to fashion will begin in September 2026, just in time for the Fall/Winter season.

For the uninitiated, John Galliano was the first British designer to helm a French couture house, having been appointed Creative Director at Givenchy in 1995. A year later, he brought his expertise to Dior, where he introduced opulent, intricately detailed, and iconic silhouettes—including the beloved Saddle bag.

He led the luxury fashion house for 15 years, and his legacy endures. He has also shared kind words with the house’s current Creative Director, Jonathan Anderson, saying, “The more that you love Dior, the more it will give back to you.”

The fashion great then moved on to Maison Margiela in 2014, marking the beginning of his decade-long leadership. There, he blurred the line between minimalism and theatricality, applying innovative techniques while remaining true to the house's DNA.

The award-winning designer’s comeback—especially with an accessible retailer—is certainly one to look forward to.
