Vice Ganda Wins Best Actor at the 2025 MMFF Wearing Demna Era Gucci

2025 ended with a bang for Vice Ganda. With her stellar performance in the Metro Manila Film Festival entry Call Me Mother, the box office superstar took home her first-ever Best Actor trophy from the award-giving body. The moment was immortalized as she accepted the honor last December 27, clad in a luxurious Gucci ensemble befitting of a victor.
Vice Ganda's Gucci Look at the 2025 Awards Night
Vice was in disbelief as her name was called as the winner of her category. Upon accepting her trophy on stage, she just had to double check the envelope to make sure it was her name written on it. "Ako nga!" she exclaimed. In the rest of her speech, she thanked her collaborators and co-actors for allowing her to express her character Twinkle the best way she can.
After years of contributing to the film festival, she was elated to finally be recognized for her acting chops, especially as an LGBTQIA+ perfomer. As she declared: "Queer people can be best actors. A queer person in [a] gown can be best actor!"
Uncannily so, Vice was almost absent from accepting her first Best Actor award. In the January 2 broadcast of It's Showtime, the comedienne shared how she usually skips the MMFF Awards Night in order to rest or take a trip with her mom. She also admits that, year after year, she doesn't expect to win any awards either. After some convincing from her bosses, she decided to attend and at the last minute, pulled together a team to glam her up. She even rang up co-star Nadine Lustre to ask if she can "singit" some time with their makeup artist Jelly Eugenio!
About the Exact Gucci Kaftan Vice Ganda Wore
For a last-minute look, Vice was totally luminous as she graced the Dusit Thani events hall. With one of her orange hairpieces restyled by Buern Rodriguez, the Best Actor honoree slipped into a Gucci kaftan from La Famiglia, the Italian maison's first collection helmed by Demna Gvasalia. The look was aptly named the Primadonna.
The billowy piece was decked out in Gucci's signature logomania, which aligned with Vice's maximalist taste. Feather trims lined the hems of the piece, which flowed in the breeze with every step the comedienne took.
The frock was only one of many star pieces in Demna's debut, with each one representing undistilled takes on Italian excess and glamour, as well as an undeniable sense of Gucci-ness. Primadonna was worn by Keke Palmer for The Tiger, a special short film that introduced the collection to the world last Milan Fashion Week.
La Famiglia was launched last September, and is only available in 10 Gucci boutiques around the world. The nearest one to Manila is in Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. Based on social media posts, Vice was recently in Milan for some work excursions, so it's possible she copped Primadonna while she was there.
