Just as much as we’re excited to find out who bagged which award at the annual Golden Globes, we’re always looking forward to ogle at what the Hollywood stars are wearing on the red carpet. From elegant fringes that looked like a million bucks to outrageously bejeweled frocks that seemed like cheap knock-offs, below, we list down the best and worst dressed at the 73rd Golden Globe Awards.
BEST
Kate Bosworth
I think we can all agree that too much sequins on the red carpet normally tends to go south, but kudos to Kate Bosworth in her strapless pink Dolce & Gabbana for pulling off this big fashion risk.
Kate Hudson
Here’s another Kate who bagged the same award for best in sparkles. Wearing a two-piece shimmering set by Michael Kors with a matching choker necklace to boot, the actress effortlessly showed off her flawlessly toned bod.
Alicia Vikander
Up for two of the biggest awards of the evening, Alicia Vikander already looked like a winner as she walked down the red carpet in a white column dress by Louis Vuitton with frill-trimmed bodice and pleated details that added texture to her simple but elegant look.
Jennifer Lawrence
Not one to disappoint, Jennifer Lawrence hit the nail on the head yet again in a red, cut-out Christian Dior gown accented with a Chopard diamond choker.
Jennifer Lopez
Jennifer Lopez didn’t show as much skin this year. Instead, the sexy Latina showed off her long, flawless gam while sporting a marigold caped frock by Giambattista Valli, which she topped off with a brick red pout.
Cate Blanchett
Ladies, this is how you wear fringe at the Golden Globes without looking like you’re auditioning for a role in The Great Gatsby. Cate Blanchett knocked it out of the park in Givenchy.
Jenna Dewan-Tatum
You don’t need much when you already have Magic Mike as your date, but Jenna Dewan-Tatum brought her A-game anyway and showed up in a sparkly Zuhair Murad number that flaunts her décolletage in all the right ways.
Julianne Moore
Another sight to behold in midnight blue, Julianne Moore kept her hair down and let her fully sequined, long-sleeved Tom Ford gown do the talking.
Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga looked every bit an actress in her off-the-shoulder Versace LBD that exuded old Hollywood glamour -a look that screams “excuse me, but I’m here to bring home the trophy.” And that, she did.
Rooney Mara
Rooney Mara in Alexander McQueen totally killed it, and her nude lace frock is not even the cherry on top. Her deconstructed braided updo may not be your typical red carpet look, but it definitely takes the cake!
Amber Heard
Ravishing in red! The Danish Girl actress made the case for sheer overlay and textured neckline in a Gucci tulle gown adorned with silk flowers.
WORST
Katy Perry
Rose Quartz may be 2016’s color of the year, but sadly it wasn’t enough to do the trick for Katy Perry’s skimpy, low-cut Prada dress that almost showed off her “own globes.” Even her bouffant ‘do made it look like she came from a nightmare instead of a teenage dream.
Natalie Dormer
Natalie Dormer tried to pull off a Game of Thrones but failed miserably in her sad-looking, shoulder-baring J. Mendel gown that even Margaery Tyrell would disapprove of.
Zendaya
It could’ve been a great choice of color for the 19-year-old singer but the tiered Marchesa dress did not flatter her figure at all, making her appear as straight as a stick. If it was in white, she could so easily pass for a cake topper.
Lola Kirke
We’ve seen this draped dress a million times on the red carpet, but this is probably it worn in the worst possible way. Her choice of hair and makeup, shoes, and accessories were all from different pages that don’t belong in the same book.
Regina King
Regina King tried to make a statement with a fully sequined gold and silver Krikor Jabotian number and added fuel to the fire by sporting a cape. Unfortunately, this look is filed under the category of how not to wear sparkles.
Maril Davis
Maril Davis most likely woke up this morning with a sudden decision to attend the Golden Globes. She thought, why not get doilies from the kitchen and then patch them together for a last-minute lace dress? Let’s not even discuss her peep-toe pumps.
