We're still high from the Preview 25 House Party where we got to celebrate our 25th anniversary with you. In one of our virtual rooms, we also witnessed how Shaira Luna does her magic at a virtual shoot. Even the pandemic couldn't get in the way of our stylish guests getting the coolest snaps for the 'gram, that's for sure!

Fun fact: Since the lockdown, Shaira shares that she has actually done a lot of photoshoots—a lot of them for clients from across the world. Normally, these are shoots that would require her to book a flight so that she can physically be there. “I think that doing these [virtual photoshoots] is great, although there are downsides, like people missing actual shoots. But I think this has given a lot of people a chance to connect even from around the world,” says the photographer.

Even when things are finally back to normal, Shaira still believes that virtual photoshoots are a fun way to connect and create. There’s so much you can do when you shoot virtually, according to the photog. She makes sure to connect with her clients the same way she would during face-to-face shoots, to keep the conversation going, to make them feel at ease, and to keep a fun, creative atmosphere.

Below, we list down Shaira's best tips to keep in mind if you’re looking to stage your own virtual shoot, accompanied by some of the snaps she took during our Preview 25 House Party:

1. Have a stable internet connection.

Naturally, a stable connection is crucial to a smooth-sailing virtual photoshoot.

2. It pays to ask for a quick house tour.

Of course, the background matters! Her clients take her to the kitchen, the bathroom, and even along the stairs. So if she sees a spot that she likes, they can hold the virtual photoshoot there.

3. Take the screenshot and edit as you see fit.

Just like how she does it after a face-to-face shoot, Shaira still makes sure to post-process her photos from a virtual shoot. Certain elements might need to be adjusted, such as the contrast and saturation so that the subject pops and the client's creative brief is achieved.
