Four words to startle you without any context whatsoever: BDSM meets the bourgeois. Saint Laurent's Fall-Winter 2020 show was all about making that unlikely introduction, teaming ultra-slick latex leggings in kitschy hues with prep-school plaid and teatime bows that, apart from their sheer size, would have been the definition of demure. Forget a party in the back. The real party's down below.
Second-skin? Nope, these are vying for no less than first place. Point is, the legging is back, but YSL's takes aren't your run-of-the-mill sporty, loungey numbers—Anthony Vaccarello has declared it's either high-shine and fetish-feeding full gleam or absolutely nothing.
It must also be said, we feel, that these aren't quite Balenciaga's floral pant-boots, either. Spurned on, perhaps, by those ubiquitous, form-fitting Marine Serre moons, Paloma Wool's psychedelic spin on bodycon loungewear, and Vetements' gloved turtleneck tops-cum-catsuits, 2019's obsession with bike shorts has morphed into the inevitable full-on return of anything that resembles a leotard...still, where those are zany and printed, Anthony's are straight up dominatrix.
Though, if you're not quite ready for kink, here's a considerably less glossy, just as current combination for mimicking the look:
