Jane de Leon, who was poised to make her big debut as the new Darna, just turned 22 last Sunday, November 22, and the young actress celebrated with a gorgeous birthday photoshoot. Photographed by Gee Plamenco Jr, styled by Cath Sobrevega, with makeup by Denise Ochoa and hair by Chris Rodil, the mestiza looked dreamy in what looks like a frothy black dress.

It’s been a while since we saw Jane get all glammed up for the camera, so we caught up with Gee and Cath to let us in on all thedetails behind the actress’ stunning birthday editorial. The stylist revealed that Jane wore a ruffled onesie paired with a tiered organza skirt by designer Esme Palaganas. “That particular layout was reminiscent of Christy Turlington by Steven Meisel in 2010. Feeling the calmness against the chaos around but giving it our own modern twist. Our goal for Jane’s shoot was to really capture her authentic soul and I think it really conveyed in the photographs GP took,” Cath shares.
This was also the first time Gee worked with Jane that wasn’t for a brand or client, which made the atmosphere a lot of fun and very collaborative. “It’s always a K-pop dance party with her,” Gee tells Preview, “[It was also] 100 percent collaborative! I was fortunate and lucky to be around such brilliant creatives Like Cath, Denise, and Chris. [They’re] such a great energy to be around and to just create something special for Jane.”
The photographer also reveals that they actually did four layouts with Jane. “Each layout is some unseen side of Jane to the public. It’s a narrative of the things [that are] to come and bloom in time,” Gee explains. “Jane has always been a quiet storm. I’ve always been fascinated [to see] what’s ahead for her.”
