With the Miss Universe 2020 preliminaries already causing a stir, our bet Rabiya Mateo has been gearing up for the competition with a good luck charm from Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach.
Rabiya’s stylist Rain Dagala shared that the nude platform Chinese Laundry heels Rabiya’s been wearing since the start of the competition are the exact same shoes Pia used during her Miss Universe 2015 run!

Apparently, a fortune teller told Pia she needed to pass on a piece she wore when she won the crown for Rabiya to win this year's pageant. Previously, Rabiya also borrowed a pair of earrings from Pia and wore them to some important preliminary interviews.
“Wala namang mawawala, so pinadala ni Pia yung gamit niya. Mamili kayo kung ano magagamit niyo diyan, and yun yung napili namin,” Rain explains. "And it just so happens that Rabiya gravitated towards it and it became her go-to pair."
But aside from bringing luck, the nude platforms give Rabiya confidence as well! She considers these heels as her “comfort piece,” so she’s worn them numerous times during the pageant’s preliminary activities.
“I think it’s a cute story. I think it’s a nice touch! It creates dimension to the styling,” Rain says. Though pageant fans may either love or hate this sky-high pair, Rabiya feels incredibly confident and strong in them.
