Few design signatures are as instantly recognizable as the Louis Vuitton Monogram. Introduced in 1896, the French maison marks the 130th anniversary of its emblem this 2026.
For decades, the LV monogram has signified status and luxury, an all-over print you're bound to spot even from a mile away. Its enduring appeal is rooted not only in its storied legacy but also in its ability to evolve with the times. Between the steady revival of ’90s style and fashion’s ongoing fascination with logomania, monogrammed pieces remain among the most coveted in the luxury market today. Year after year, the trend cycles point to how Louis Vuitton monogram bags transcend well beyond fast-changing trends.
Among collectors, that timelessness also speaks to the sentimental value of each Louis Vuitton Monogram piece, often preserved as heirlooms or trusted daily companions. In every case, the motif stands as a lasting symbol of heritage and craftsmanship passed down through generations.
In this edition of Preview Asks, we speak with Filipino creatives and industry insiders about the stories behind their most treasured monogram pieces.
What’s the Story Behind Your Louis Vuitton Monogram Piece?
Maita Baello
“My favorite Louis Vuitton Monogram piece is a Neverfull that Marian Rivera gifted me a few years ago. It’s special to me because it came from her, but it’s also one of those true Louis Vuitton classics that never goes out of style.
I’ve carried it everywhere, from busy styling days to travel and it really lives up to its name. It fits everything. I also love the red lining inside, it’s such a fun detail that makes the bag feel iconic every time you open it.”

Marj Ramos-Clemente
“As little girls, our moms are often our very first style icons. For me, my mom really cherished her Louis Vuitton Speedy's and Neverfull's—she even had a separate closet for them, and they were always treated with so much care. Because of that, the Louis Vuitton monogram was the first designer symbol I learned to recognize.
I bought my first Louis Vuitton after a promotion. It was a monogrammed Loop, and every time I carry it, it reminds me of an important career milestone. Looking back, it was one of my first 'big girl' purchases, and I think that says a lot about how much my mom and her style shaped me growing up."

Martina Lebron
"My sister got this Louis Vuitton Papillon on a trip to Japan years ago, and somehow it slowly made its way into my closet. I’m pretty sure she forgot she lent it to me and I’m just hoping she never asks for it back."

Kat Cabral
“My mom and her sisters are avid bag collectors, so a lot of their pieces get passed around and circulate among them, eventually reaching me. One of them is the Speedy 30 with the classic Monogram, which has become something of an heirloom piece—especially since it was made just a year after I was born.”

Melville Sy
“Of all the Louis Vuitton Monogram bags I’ve collected over the years, my favorite would have to be my Yayoi Kusama piece. I’ve always loved that collection, so it holds a special place in my heart.
It’s very functional, but it also feels like owning a little piece of art.”

John Lozano
“If I were a bag, I'd be the LV Murakami Soft Speedy 30 in black. It's fun and cute but with a dark edgy side too, which is what I always apply to my personal style.”

Ginger Gaddi
“This bag was a gift from a client who eventually became a dear friend. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of styling many of her milestones — from her maternity to birthdays and even her engagement. It’s moments like these that remind me how lucky I am to build relationships that go far beyond work.
I like traveling with my Alma because it’s compact and versatile. It works with almost any outfit, which makes it an easy choice when I’m packing.”

Bea Ledesma
“I was walking past the store with my mom last December and just remarked that I liked the new Speedy with the short strap.
Fast forward to a few days later on Christmas Day and an LV box appears on my doorstep. My mom had gone back to purchase that exact purse the next day as a present. So this bag will always be a sweet reminder that you’re never too old to name drop Louis Vuitton to a parent.”
