If you haven’t watched Off Campus yet, chances are you’ve at least heard of it.
The new romantic drama series has become quite inevitable, currently sitting as the third most-watched debut series in the history of Amazon Prime Video. It is also the platform’s top debut of all time among female viewers from ages 18 to 34, reaching 36 million views in its first 12 days of streaming.
The show is an adaptation of Elle Kennedy’s series of hockey romance novels set in the fictional Briar University. It explores various tropes, starting off with the fake-dating plot of the first book, The Deal. Breathing life into lead characters Hannah Wells and Garrett Graham are Ella Bright and Belmont Cameli.

While the show was released in 2026, the novel was published more than a decade ago—back in 2015, to be exact. Costume designer Charlene Akuamoah took on the task of bridging this gap to create looks that were true to each character and their respective narratives, while being suitable for modern times. The show has been taking over social media with viral-worthy moments, and one of them features a daring green dress worn by Hannah’s best friend, Allie Hayes (Mika Abdalla).
The Exact Boob Tape Used to Secure the Jennifer Lopez Costume in “Off Campus”
In the second episode, the characters attend a costume-themed birthday party hosted by Dean Di Laurentis (Stephen Kalyn) and Beau Maxwell (Khobe Clarke). Allie Hayes walks in and steals the scene in a green dress that everyone and their mothers can recognize. After all, the piece that it derived inspiration from reportedly led to the invention of Google Images because people just can’t get it out of their heads.
On the Floor by Jennifer Lopez plays, to which she exclaims, “This is me!”
She then dances her heart out without a worry in mind—not even a nip slip.
Charlene took to Instagram to give the dress the moment it deserved. She and her team “scoured the earth” to find fabric most similar to the original Versace piece, sprayed the entire roll to get the perfect shade of green, and had costume cutter Evan Couillaud make a backup dress just in case. She wrote, “We had a million fittings for this to make sure it fit just right, and on the day, made sure Mika Abdalla was taped within an inch of her life so she could change all of our lives.”

In an interview with Bustle, Charlene shared, “This dress was an accumulation of everyone’s love for fashion and the Versace piece. A lot of us in the costume room understood the cultural impact of this dress. So we all knew that it needed to be right.”
Charlene generously answered the resounding question: What tape was used to secure the dress in place?
She credits truck supervisor Madison Douglas as “the queen of tape,” saying she was responsible for “making sure that the things stayed where they needed to stay so that Mika could live her best life, be free, be very confident, and feel sexy in the look that she was wearing.” The team used boob tape, with Charlene specifying Nippies as the brand she loves.
