Miley Cyrus partners with Instagram to launch a campaign to support the LGBT community.
Just after the release of her provocative photos from Paper magazine, Cyrus uses this liberated voice to reach out to those who struggle with being accepted. #InstaPride is the latest venture of Happy Hippie Foundation, Cyrus’ quest to rally against social injustice. The new movement will feature stories of “transgender and gender expansive people” through her Instagram posts with the tags #HappyHippiePresents and #InstaPride.
Miley recently worked with a couple of people with their own stories to tell. She shared the story of Leo Sheng, who was holding up big yellow happy-faced balloons and was flashing a smile himself. Yellow, the official color of the campaign is “happy and not sexualized,” she tells TIME.
She also adds, ”The portraits and the people in them are meant to serve as positive examples for young people who might be struggling to figure themselves out, as well as reference points for those who might not personally know anyone who doesn't feel at home in their own body.”
A cause more noble than twerking.
