How Meryl Streep Managed to Survive "The Devil Wears Prada 2" Global Press Tour in 5-Inch Heels

Meryl Streep kept things precise on The Devil Wears Prada 2 press tour—and that includes her shoes. At 76, the veteran actress regularly stepped out in five-inch heels across multiple international stops, moving through premieres, interviews, and late-night appearances in pairs that held up over long hours.

For the global press run, Meryl worked with stylist Micaela Erlanger, who narrowed in on a consistent footwear direction early on.

Throughout the tour, Meryl has been wearing pairs from Sole Bliss, including designs from the Sole Bliss x Micaela Erlanger collaboration. The capsule features a sculptural stiletto and a platform heel, both constructed to redistribute pressure and accommodate different foot shapes.

Micaela told People that the project stemmed from a recurring issue in her work. “I was searching for a solution to a problem I’ve faced my entire career: how to keep my clients in high heels for a three-hour premiere, a dinner, and an after-party without them being in total agony,” she said. “The collaboration was a natural next step because we both believe women shouldn’t have to choose between a five-inch stiletto and comfort.”

The shoes have already appeared at major stops on the tour. In Mexico City, Meryl wore black suede platform heels with a navy belted coat from Schiaparelli. In Seoul, she stepped out in the same silhouette in gold leather, paired with a red suit from Prada.

The styling direction stayed anchored in Meryl’s own wardrobe. “People associate Miranda with authority and confidence, so we channelled that energy without literal replication,” Micaela explained to People. “To keep it ‘Meryl,’ we incorporated her real-life signatures… It felt very natural and intentional.” She added that once each look was defined, “the shoes grounded the outfit and brought it all together.”

The heels worn during the press tour are part of the Sole Bliss x Micaela Erlanger collection, a limited-edition release available in multiple colorways across two styles. The designs retail at $399 (approx. P24,400) through the brand’s website.
