ICYMI, the queen of #Richtok Becca Bloom just tied the knot with David Pownall. After months of documenting her preparations, the couple’s much-anticipated wedding finally took place in an intimate ceremony overlooking Lake Como in Italy.
For the occasion, the lifestyle influencer walked down the aisle in a voluminous Oscar de la Renta ball gown, embroidered with laser-cut appliques of peonies. The New York–based house, long recognized for its lacework, elaborate embroidery, and feminine accents—bows, ruffles, and floral appliqués—has built a reputation among brides-to-be for its rustic and romantic designs.
As details of Becca Bloom’s wedding are still making the rounds, Filipino netizens were quick to notice how local beauty influencer, Marj Maroket, also donned a similar frock during her wedding day back in March.

On September 4, Marj took to Instagram Stories to respond to the questions flooding her inbox. “Woke up to many DMs and comments about Becca Bloom having the same wedding dress as me omg!” she wrote. While acknowledging the resemblance, she clarified the distinction: “Both are by Oscar, but hers is a different style! She looks amazing.”
While both gowns share a dramatic ball gown silhouette and the brand’s signature laser-cut floral appliqués, they are in fact not identical.

For the unacquainted, the house’s hand-embroidered, laser-cut details are a hallmark of its bridal line, appearing throughout its seasonal collections in a variety of motifs and silhouettes.
During her beachside ceremony, Marj wore an archival gown from the label’s Fall 2019 collection, which she serendipitously chanced upon online. Her dress featured an embroidered fern detail all over.

Meanwhile, Becca’s gown was a custom creation by the house. While crafted with the same embroidery technique, her version incorporated peony motifs, which she chose as a nod to her Chinese upbringing. In her interview with Vogue US, Becca explained that peonies are China’s national flower and a fixture in her childhood home’s garden.
