Maris Racal Bags Her First Gawad Urian Win in a Pristine Ensemble by Fatima Beltran

Maris Racal has added a major accolade to her acting career, earning her first Gawad Urian Best Actress win for the 2024 coming-of-age film Sunshine. At the 49th edition of the awards, held at the Teresa Yuchengco Auditorium at De La Salle University-Manila on October 8, she shared the honor with Odette Khan, who was recognized for Bar Boys: After School.
In an Instagram post, director Antoinette Jadaone shared a video capturing Maris’ tearful reaction as she was called up to the stage. “Pinapangarap lang natin ito dati tehhhhhhh!!! Pero hindi ako kailanman nagduda,” Direk Tonet wrote in the caption.
For the momentous occasion, stylist Adrianne Concepcion dressed the actress in a custom all-white ensemble by designer Fatima Beltran.

Reminiscent of Old Hollywood glamour, Maris’ two-piece ensemble pairs a vintage-inspired silhouette with intricate fabric details. The eggshell-white lace bodice features a halter neckline and a waist-defining fit, with a peplum that flows into a midi-length mermaid skirt. The skirt is finished with a flared hem and a delicate floral brocade pattern.
Keeping the overall look sleek and understated, Maris accessorized with white gold jewelry from Diagold. Hairstylist Aries Manal swept her hair into a wavy ponytail, while makeup artist Jay Salcedo opted for bronzed tones and a naturally dewy complexion to complement the pristine palette.
Maris’ performance in Sunshine has earned recognition from multiple award-giving bodies, including the 9th Eddys Awards, where she won Best Actress, and the 6th Pinoy Rebyu Awards, where she took home Best Lead Performance.
