Louis Vuitton is set on making packing and traveling easier with its new line of rolling luggage fit for the 21st century traveler. Designed by renowned Australian industrial designer Marc Newson, these new LV trunks are slim, elastic, and shock-proof with a new type of self-reinforced polypropylene composite as its core. The French house’s famous LV monogram print canvas has also been reduced to 50% in thickness, contributing to a more lightweight luggage. It is also made out of a recyclable woven material and not out of carbon fiber, thus making the luggage environmentally-friendly and semi-flexible, making it difficult to break and able to retain its form.
These wheeled bags also revolutionize your common packing woes: the need for more space. Most trunks have their extendable canes within the trunk, but here, LV has relocated the anodized aluminum cane outside, adding not just strength and structure but also increasing the packing space. Apart from saying goodbye to bulky interior bumps, LV’s rolling luggage now allows a 180-degree opening with its new built-in transversal hinge.
You’re also sure to keep your valuables safe with its super slim aluminum and TSA-approved three-digit combination zip-pull lock system designed to reduce weight. Travel lightly and silently with its miniature four wheels engineered to glide 360-degrees noise-free and smoothly without sacrificing stability.
“I think it’s safe to say that we’re striving to break new ground in terms of developing a product, which is one of the lightest in the market, and from a technical perspective is one of the most rigorously designed and engineered,” says Newson. “I’m obsessive about packing everything into a bag of a certain size, which is why it was so important for me to design a product that could tick all of those boxes and be the perfect piece of luggage for a person like me, [who] won’t travel with anything more than is absolutely necessary.”
These new innovative wheelers come in three sizes: mini (50 x 35 x 20 cm), cabin (55 x 39 x 21 cm), and maxi (68x 46 x 26 cm), and in various styles: the classic Monogram canvas, Monogram Eclipse, Damier Graphite, Taiga leather, and a rainbow of seven colors of Epi leather.
The trunks come in a protective cover for use when checking in, an interior removable strap, and mesh screen divider. Additional accessories created for this line include a padded computer sleeve, accessories pouch, washable shoe pouch, and a garment cover. Of course, any luggage wouldn't be complete without a tag. You can have yours personalized along with your accessory pouch.
