The sparkling blue evening gown Reina Hispanoamericana Filipinas 2018 winner Alyssa Muhlach Alvarez wore at the recent Miss World 2018 pageant has become internet-certified viral, and with good reason. Its cobalt hue and figure-skimming serpentina cut were stunning, yes, but what really earned the frock widespread admiration was the shimmering likeness of the Philippine archipelago etched lovingly on the back. Unique and patriotic!

The fun part is, it was actually Alyssa's idea to sport the nation's silhouette on her dress! In an interview with Preview, she shares: "I met up with my designer, Benj Leguiab IV, and I told him that I wanted the Philippine islands to be on my gown because I wanted to show my love for the Philippines. But initially, I suggested it to be on a different area. However, Benj one day suggested and surprised me with it being on my back. I was so overjoyed and happy when he showed me. He was able to make a beautiful patriotic gown that I truly am so proud of and very grateful for."
