Apart from mixing and matching textures and cuts, an outfit’s palette plays a huge part in your whole aesthetic. A wrong pairing can lead to a tacky result or maybe even a bland ensemble. And so, we turn to It girl Bea Soriano for some notes on how to color-block for this coming holiday season.
Bea chose a palette of warm tones. She took burgundy and warm orange and wore them in tailored and boxy silhouettes then added in a silky navy blue top as her accent piece. The top worked well with both colors being they are complementary hues, which means that while they sit across each other in the color wheel and tend to look harmoniously together instead of competing for attention. This balanced look makes the whole outfit seamlessly put together.
In any color-blocked ensemble, though, sometimes the problem lies on the footwear. If you’re unsure, opt for the safest bet–black. Neutral colors will tone down any loud hues and will help unify dark shades.
