Are you ready for the rainy season? In case you haven't heard, it's high time to momentarily set aside the hardworking napkin tops and bralettes you've been heavily rotating. Next, trade them in for cozy layers! If you've been waiting for an opportune time to rock blazers, hoodies, and leather jackets, consider this your sign: The ever-fresh Kathryn Bernardo and her stylist Jan Aranilla put together five no-frills, stylish OOTDs with the rainy season in mind. For tips on how to dress for a drizzly day, read on!
How to dress for rainy days like Kathryn Bernardo
1. Loose Trousers + Mock Neck Top + Black Button-Down + White Sneakers
According to Kath, this is the perfect outfit for chilly days with the promise of afternoon showers. Underneath the espresso button-down, she's wearing a sleeveless mock neck top, which is still totally Manila-proof—sticking to a sleeveless top will ensure that you won't suffer a heastroke in the event of rain being a false alarm. Plus, she and her stylist advise investing in a high quality mock neck top because it's an easy styling piece that'll be cute for travel OOTDs, too.
So far, Kath's been underscoring a valuable styling tip: Given how unpredictable the weather can be, make sure that your rainy day outfit can be stripped down in case the heat comes back. We're taking notes!
For her second look, she wore a preppy white tennis skirt with a black v-neck polo shirt. Over it, she donned a oversized hoodie. So cozy!
Investing in basics will always be worth it! Here, Kathryn's wearing a Patton bodysuit with light wash baggy jeans, a crisp white button-down, and trusty Dr. Martens boots. This is casual dressing at its finest!
Since kitten heels don't hold the promise of comfort on a rainy day, Kath recommends donning a pair of chunky sandals, or, as she called it, "mandals". (In case you haven't heard the term before: It's a pormanteau of "man" + "sandals"!) Keeping up with the theme of wearing something Manila-appropriate beneath a snug coverup, she wore a form-fitting nude dress and a tawny linen blazer. So chic!
Heading to an evening hangout? This combo will be your best bet! In an effort to "balance out the girliness," Kath teamed a trendy ruched silk mini-dress with a hand-painted leather jacket. Since the jacket is already a showstopper, she finished off the look with subtle low-cut sneakers. The result is effortlessly edgy!
