KARIMADON, the Filipina's go-to RTW brand for elegant formalwear, is taking a journey west. The homegrown brand will be showing their Fall/Winter 2017 collection at Vancouver Fashion Week!
To know more about this fantastic opportunity, Preview had a quick chat with KARIMADON's President Josie Go right before she boarded the plane to Van City. In our quick Q&A below, she lets us in on exciting details behind the show, and more!
Hi Josie! First of all, congratulations! How did this all come about?
"Thank you! We received an invitation from Vancouver Fashion Week to join their Fall/Winter 2017 show last year. Vancouver is a really big, cosmopolitan city, [so] it will be a good venue to present KARIMADON collection (a Filipino homegrown brand) not only to Vancouverites, but to the world."
What was your first reaction upon receiving the invite?
"I [still] can't believe it's happening...and [when I received the invite I] was really happy."
Is this KARIMADON's first fashion show overseas?
"Yes, and we are really so excited."
Can you give us a quick overview of the collection you'll be showing in Vancouver?
"Since this is for Fall/Winter collection, there will be materials like velour and faux fur. Winter is also Holiday season, so we would be having some flowy gowns."
So luxe! How about the colour palette? Are there hues that you're loving for the season?
"Yup, colors like burgundy, deep blue, and, of course, my favorite blush color."
We're in love already. What else is in store for the brand in Vancouver?
"We are planning to do some product shoots and hoping to meet some possible distributors for KARIMADON."
What's next for KARIMADON? Anything we should be looking out for?
"KARIMADON stores [have been] in operation in Jakarta, Indonesia since 2015, we are also expected to have presence in Dubai very soon."
Looking forward to the show, Josie!
