As we all know, this pandemic has changed many aspects of our lives. Many of us started to develop a better mindset towards health, career, relationships as well as our shopping habits. Even celebrities and fellow fashion girls such as Bea Alonzo, Pia Wurtzbach and Julia Barretto revealed how they are taking a pause from their luxury splurges. Not soon after, Iza Calzado-Wintle has officially joined the club.

It’s no secret that that actress is a style icon to look up to. Iza has been making a serious case for elegant and timeless looks, that includes an impressive collection of designer items. From Bottega Veneta’s Stretch Sandals to Louis Vuitton’s Petite Malle Bag, her closet is simply to die for.

However, after her battle with COVID-19, pneumonia, and Acinetobacter Baumanni (an immunocompromised bacterial infection), Iza became more grateful for life. In an Instagram post, she wrote, “Even more grateful for his instruments of life, our positive spirit and resilience, especially in our frontliners. This was me exactly a month ago. Every breath is a blessing.”

Just recently the actress opened up about her luxury shopping habits (or lack thereof) in an interview with Preview and Battle of Brody & Brandy co-star Ian Veneracion. “Nako! I spent way too much money on fashion and I've learned that you shouldn't,” Iza reveals. When asked how both actors managed their finances, she also explained, “In our industry, it’s not a corporate job. It’s like per day, per project. Sometimes we forget na ngayon it flows—it flows but it doesn’t flow as well so you really have to save.”

“Earn good money, you spend a fair amount of it on things that you want, di ba? But now I think during this pandemic, it really taught us to put value in things that are not as tangible in material wealth but except for like land, things that really appreciate in value,” she adds.

Ian echoes her sentiment, “It becomes clear, the things that you want and the things that you need. Talagang it becomes very clear na I don’t really need this.”

“Yeah, Did I really need a whole closet filled with...shoes?” Iza asks herself.
