Issa recently launched her brand named after her own name, and their first collection of wearable art pieces. Issa means fixed form or versatile function, referring to the countless ways you’d be able to use their pieces! Issa’s first collection features four designs inspired by art movements and the natural world. Believe it or not, the designs are all hand-drawn! Throughout the process Issa coined the term “linealisms” which is the style of using lines in various sizes and patterns to create a one-of-a-kind design. No two designs are the same which emphasizes uniqueness through individuality, isn’t that amazing? All the four designs explored femininity, beauty in distortion, embracing imperfection, and recognizing uniqueness. The four designs are duality, element, flow, and nudes. Duality is inspired by the principlies of yin & yang wherein one cannot live without the other. The mirror design on the piece represents the complexity and how much more there is to understand about each half. Element is inspired by the balance of nature, which is why you see details of land, fire, water, and air incorporated with the use of linealisms on this piece. The presence of each element in varying degrees determines the tranquility or volatility, and peace can only be achieved if all are perfectly balanced. A little more on the abstract side, Flow portrays the climax of energy change. Flow represents the neutrality of nature and that energy builds and is released when opposing flows meet. This piece encourages the audience to see it objectively; is the crashing of waves conflict or a cycle? Last but definitely not the least is Nudes which focuses on the varying shapes and colours of the female form. That the differences between each form are unique and alludes to the strength of each individual. All pieces are 27 x 27 inches and made of silver infused polyester which is lightweight, durable, and antibacterial!
