Last Saturday night at the annual ABS-CBN Ball, the brightest stars in show business gathered on the red carpet for a grand fashionable evening. One of the esteemed attendees was It girl Isabelle Daza, who was a vision in her simple yet classic blue terno. That said, more than Belle simply looking beautiful, what most people didn't realize was that her sartorial choice actually held a deeper personal meaning as well.
Last night on her Instagram post, Belle shared that the Filipiniana she wore to the ball originally belonged to her mother Gloria Diaz, who was the first Filipina to win the prestigious Miss Universe crown back in 1969. Her mom wore the traditional garb to crown the new Miss Universe, Miss India Sushmita Sen, in 1994 with the then-reigning Miss Universe Dayanara Torres.
The blue gown was an original Pepito Albert creation. Apart from paying tribute to her mom, Belle notes that re-using the gown 25 years later was also her way of supporting sustainable fashion. She captions her post, "I feel like vintage is the new sustainable."
Meanwhile, Gloria Diaz also beamed about her daughter wearing her terno in her own Instagram account.
Aww, what a beautiful mother-daughter moment indeed!
