Is Hedi Slimane Leaving Saint Laurent? Rumor has it that Versus Versace's Anthony Vaccarello is stepping up to the plate.

Earlier this week, rumors began to fly that Hedi Slimane, creative director at Saint Laurent, is to step down from his post after nearly three and a half years. The label was quick to shut down the claims, telling Vogue UK: “Following the recent departures, there has been many rumors. And this is another false speculation.” However, these rumors just won’t seem to go away, with people naming a new “successor” in the form of Versus Versace's head designer Anthony Vaccarello, who’s held his position at Versace’s contemporary label for only just a year.

So where are all these rumors coming from?

Following Raf Simons’ unexpected departure from Dior late last year, Hedi’s name has occasionally been brought up. Still, some claim that this would be highly unlikely given that the label’s scope of design ranges from couture to red carpet which goes beyond his experience, having overhauled Saint Laurent since his arrival and completely changing its aesthetic into something more youthful with fast fashion feel at luxury prices.

Currently, Hedi is preparing for the big move of Saint Laurent’s menswear collection which won’t be showing during Paris Fashion Week next season. Instead, it’ll be debuting alongside “womenswear part one” at the Palladium in Los Angeles, California next month.

Until then, we’ll all just have to sit and wait for the real heirs of the vacated thrones to stand up.
