As our medical workers painstakingly fight the COVID-19 crisis in the frontlines, the fashion industry has taken it upon itself to provide them with badly-needed equipment essential for their own protection. Iloilo-based designers in particular have gone viral on social media lately for keeping medical frontliners' spirits up by sewing colorful hazmats and creatively themed PPE suits inspired by pop culture—think Money Heist, Power Rangers, and Star Wars!

Check them out below:

1. Money Heist

Iloilo-based designer Ram Silva crafted scarlet red PPE suits reminiscent of the Netflix hit series Money Heist for the Internal Medicine Department of Western Visayas Medical Center. And they came just in time for the release of its fourth season on the streaming site, too! “Positivity amidst the chaos,” Ram wrote on his Instagram post.

Note: the masks were used purely as props.

Knowing all too well the struggles of being a medical worker especially during these trying times, Adrian continues to breathe into his designs what sense of positivity he can provide. “I work a lot in the hospital and the work there is exhausting. And I have always taught myself to look for the beauty in it,” he wrote in his previous post. That said, check out his Star Wars-themed gear below for their hospital’s emergency department.

More recently, Adrian, along with the other nurses came up with Power Rangers-themed hazmats as well.  “My goal is for each members of the healthcare team to feel confident rather than scared when they step inside the battlefield each day,” Adrian explains on his IG post. “The Pink Ranger once said, ‘We can't change the past but we can work for a better future.’ I hope these hazmat suits empower everyone, nurses and patients alike. It's morphin' time!”
