These stars have caught the velvet fever!

Velvet was, hands down, one of the biggest trends of 2016. As seen on the runways of Alberta Ferretti, Giorgio Armani, Valentino, and many other designers at Fashion Week from New York to Paris, the luxe texture has successfully broken free from its dark, gothic reputation from the olden days. All of a sudden, our closets have enough space for velvet everything (even swimsuits, apparently)—so to state the obvious, yes, this trend is officially crossing over to 2017!

The velvet fever won’t be going away anytime soon. And to prove our point, just take a look at our local celebrities’ recent OOTDs as they, too, showed off their own take on the trend. While you’re at it, go ahead and score a style tip or two!

Slipping into a red velvet dress is a surefire way to turn up the heat, and Denise Laurel sizzled in hers as she matched it with a vampy lip to boot!

Nadine Lustre also got the red dress memo, and she upped the ante by rocking a fur stole and the wet hair trend.

Even Sunshine Dizon celebrated her newfound sexy figure in a body-hugging velvet frock—the perfect scene-stealing dress to nail her Belo endorsement shoot!

Meanwhile, Janine Gutierrez turned to local designer Martin Bautista for her “talikogenic” OOTD featuring a velvet bodysuit with an open back plus dramatic sleeves.

Also donning a bodysuit, Sofia Andres opted for a velvet slit skirt in lavender to add an interesting texture and color to her otherwise laid-back and all-black outfit.

Still feeling iffy about whether or not you should join the club? Take baby steps by trying on one velvet piece paired with subdued basics. Take Bea Alonzo for example—her textured wrap blouse was obviously the focal point of her look, which was nicely complemented by her classic white pants and nude pointy-toed pumps.

Or, you can literally follow in Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach’s footsteps and wear it on your feet!

Liz Uy went all the way for London Fashion Week and made the street style photographers' heads turn with her velvet on velvet ensemble. Not that we expect any less from this style star, of course!
