If you find yourself spellbound by that pavé diamond necklace Heart Evangelista's been wearing lately— yup, the one she wore multiple times during her New York trip—you ought to congratulate yourself. Why? Well, it's an indication that you have a taste for the timeless.
Suffice to say that the necklace is no ordinary piece of jewelry–in fact, any style-savvy eye would know the slinky snake is emblematic of luxury itself. It is the Bvlgari Serpenti, which the brand fondly regards as its spirit animal, and the story behind this stretches all the way back to the 1940s, when the Serpenti emblem was first designed. It is meant to symbolize rebirth and renewal, as snakes routinely shed their scales to accommodate growth.
“The Serpenti is a symbol of power and seduction, but it is also transformative,” Bulgari’s creative director Lucia Silvestri said in an interview. The snake is somehow incorporated into all of Bvlgari's jewelry, timepieces, bags, and wallets, giving them all that distinct, immediately recognizable touch.
Heart's necklace is the Serpenti Viper Necklace an ageless, steeply luxurious piece of fine jewelry. It may strike you as silver upon first glance, but make no mistake–the snake is molded from 18-karat white gold. In lieu of scales, this bewitching serpent is completely overlaid with 14.74 carat diamonds. Imagine that!
As with most luxury items, the price point fluctuates depending on the merchant. The highest and most recent price tag on this item was recorded to be approximately P7,408,486.50, which we found on the Bvlgari website. Clearly, this necklace is less than an accessory and more of a lifetime investment!
We estimate that Heart purchased this necklace at the beginning of 2021. Because it was such a big ticket splurge, she told Karen Davila in an interview, she intends for the necklace to last 'til her 40th birthday, which we're guessing means that she won't be buying anything this grand within the next four years!
