The South Korean eyewear label has built a reputation for pushing style boundaries with bold silhouettes, immersive retail experiences, and a distinct futuristic edge. Now, the brand is chartering into new territory with its upcoming tech innovation. In collaboration with Google, the partnership is set to develop AI-powered eyewear built on Android XR, Google’s extended reality platform designed to support immersive, spatial experiences across devices.

Gentle Monster to Team Up with Google on AI-Powered Glasses

Announced at Google I/O 2025, the collaboration marks a notable shift in the conversation around smart eyewear. The emphasis of this design is on everyday integration—creating glasses that are stylish, comfortable, and equipped with intelligent features that enhance how we live, work, and move on the daily.

Shahram Izadi, General Manager and Vice President of Google XR, highlighted the importance of aesthetic design in making technology feel naturally part of the day-to-day. That vision aligns seamlessly with Gentle Monster’s design philosophy, where form, function, and attitude come together in each of its designs.

The upcoming eyewear piece is expected to deliver advanced features enabled by Android XR, which could potentially include real-time assistance, navigation, and intuitive interfaces, while retaining the visual clarity and sophistication that define Gentle Monster’s aesthetic appeal.

Details on the design and capabilities are still under wraps. Nonetheless, the collaboration points to a future where smart glasses are no longer viewed as niche tech, but as thoughtfully designed lifestyle accessories that seamlessly integrate themselves as part of the everyday.
