Francis Libiran Just Launched a T-Shirt Version of His "Sinag" Barongs
It’s a casual take on the country’s official attire at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

During the 2024 Paris Olympics, Filipino athletes proudly walked the opening ceremony in Francis Libiran’s “Sinag” barongs.
Distinguished by its sling-like detail, the piece incorporated the Philippine flag’s blue and red, accented with golden sun rays rendered in Pintados-inspired motifs. The design paid tribute to the intricate tattooing traditions of Visayan warriors from the pre-colonial era.
“It’s like a badge of honor, it’s a way for our athletes to feel proud and protected as they represent the Philippines,” he shared in an exclusive interview with Preview back in June 2024. Now, the designer is introducing a T-shirt version of the patriotic barong, making the symbolic design wearable beyond the Olympic stage.
