Let's get this bread, as the kids these days do say. The Fendi Baguette, named, of course, after the way Parisians carry the famous French specialty snug under their arms, has made its much-awaited comeback, and it's affirmative: you're gonna want a bite.
We won't pretend we didn't see it coming. Following the footsteps of Dior, whose iconic Saddle had a whole new style generation lusting after it last year, the Baguette is another '90s-to-noughties It bag that's been revamped for the now. It was the luxury label's #BaguetteFriendsForever campaign that really propelled the renaissance forward: Starring the well-heeled likes of Caro Daur, Yoyo Cao, Hikari Mori, Zhuo Tan, and—for real!—Sarah Jessica Parker herself, it gave the world a first glimpse at fresh, candy-hued, Zucca-embossed versions of the coveted-again purse. We're particularly partial to that stunning sequined one.
Which is not to say that vintage won't do. It pays to remember that this was the bag Carrie Bradshaw and company got kicked out of the Playboy Mansion for...that, and with Karl Lagerfeld's recent passing (he was creative director of Fendi for 52 years!), the Baguette is definitely a piece of his legacy.
